Izzy & Brian’s Engagement

This engagement photo session on Lake Norman was a blast!

Izzy & Brian litteraly reached out last minute. It just so happened that they wanted the exact location, date and time that I was already shooting another engagement. So we decided to meet right after my first sessions and I’m glad we did. These photos were taken at Trump National Golf Course on Lake Norman right north of Charlotte North Carolina. I love being a Charlotte wedding photographer. The boat ride was awesome!

As a wedding photographer, one of the most enjoyable parts of my job is capturing beautiful and romantic engagement photos for couples. Posing a couple for an engagement photo session can be a bit of a challenge, but with a little bit of guidance and some creative ideas, you can create stunning and memorable images that the couple will treasure for years to come.

Here are a few tips for posing a couple for an engagement photo session:

  1. Start with the basics: Have the couple stand facing each other, with their bodies slightly angled towards each other. This creates a sense of intimacy and connection.

  2. Use props: Incorporating props into the photo shoot can add visual interest and help create a sense of context. This could be something as simple as a bouquet of flowers or a picnic blanket.

  3. Experiment with different heights: Have the couple stand on different levels, such as a step or a piece of furniture, to add depth and interest to the photo.

  4. Encourage natural poses: Instead of stiff, posed shots, try to capture more natural and candid moments. This could be the couple holding hands, hugging, or simply looking at each other with love in their eyes.

  5. Get creative: Don't be afraid to try out different poses and angles. This could be something as simple as having the couple sit on a bench or lay on a blanket in a park.

Overall, the key to successful engagement photo posing is to relax, have fun, and be creative. By focusing on the couple's natural connection and using a variety of poses and props, you can create beautiful and timeless engagement photos that the couple will cherish forever.

Marissa & Brandon’s Engagement

Wow! Marissa & Brandon were fun… and a bit adventurous!

Well! I have to say that Looking Glass Falls in Brevard North Carolina is one of my new favorite places to do engagement photos. It was a little cold in November to jump in the water but I hope some adventurous couple will want to go this summer! We had such a good time with this couple though. I was surprised that there were several trails and spots that we were able to capture some great photos and also add a little variety to the session.

Are you planning an engagement photo shoot at Looking Glass Falls in Brevard, North Carolina? If so, you're in for a treat – the falls are a truly stunning location, and the perfect backdrop for beautiful and memorable engagement photos.

Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your photo shoot:

  1. Choose the right time of day: The lighting at Looking Glass Falls is always beautiful, but certain times of day will be more flattering for your photos. Avoid shooting in the middle of the day, when the sun is directly overhead, as this can create harsh shadows on your faces. Instead, opt for early morning or late afternoon, when the light is softer and more diffuse.

  2. Dress for the occasion: Your attire can have a big impact on the overall look and feel of your photos. For a more romantic and intimate vibe, consider wearing dresses or suits in softer, more muted colors. Avoid busy patterns or overly flashy accessories, as these can distract from the natural beauty of the falls.

  3. Scout out the best spots: The falls are surrounded by beautiful, lush greenery, so take some time to explore and find the spots that will make for the best photos. Look for areas with interesting backgrounds, such as trees or rock formations, and try to find a spot that is somewhat sheltered from the sun.

  4. Don't be afraid to get a little wet: The falls are, well, a waterfall, so you may end up getting a little wet during your photo shoot. Don't let this discourage you – in fact, some of the most memorable engagement photos are the ones that show the couple embracing the natural surroundings and having fun. Just make sure to bring a change of clothes if you plan on getting too wet!

Overall, the key to a successful engagement photo shoot at Looking Glass Falls is to relax, have fun, and let the natural beauty of the location speak for itself. With these tips in mind, you're sure to come away with some truly beautiful and meaningful photos that you'll cherish for years to come.
